18 CONFIRMATION OF APPOINTMENTS - SENIOR STAFF POSITIONS
At the 14 March 2012 Workshop Meeting, Council considered General Manager’s Report No. GM9/12 – Review of External Services and Organisation Structure - and resolved in part that:
Council approve the new organisation structure and the senior staff positions shown in the confidential attachment to General Manager’s Report No. GM9/12, and note that the new structure is proposed to commence on 4 June 2012.
On 29 March 2012, the General Manager advised staff of Council’s decision above and provided them with details of the new organisation structure which is to comprise the Office of the General Manager and four operational Divisions - Infrastructure and Recreation, and Corporate Support (to be headed by Deputy General Managers); and Environment and Human Services, and Planning (to be headed by Group Managers).
During the following week, the Deputy General Manager and Group Manager positions were advertised in the press and on Council’s website with a closing date for applications being 22 April 2012. Interviews were subsequently held in the week commencing 30 April 2012, following which the General Manager consulted with the Mayor and Councillors in respect of the preferred candidate for each role.
The General Manager has now advised that he has finalised appointments to the senior staff positions as follows:
· Deputy General Manager, Infrastructure and Recreation Division – Mr Bob Stephens
· Deputy General Manager, Corporate Support Division – Mr Gary Bensley
· Group Manager, Environment and Human Services Division – Mr Steve Fedorow
· Group Manager, Planning Division – Mr James Farrington
The senior staff appointments and the new structure will have effect from 4 June 2012.
THAT the senior staff appointments detailed in Mayoral Minute No. MM5/12 be noted.
